2021 was destined for a year of growth. A year of rediscovery and most importantly a year of reset. It wasn't a perfect year. There were losses and setbacks and a lot of grief. I took a massive leap of faith and quit the career I had been working toward, which was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make. But when I took a step back and thought long and hard about what I wanted out of life, I no longer found joy in what I was doing. I started a new job in March which freed up so much time to spend with family and I was able to really focus on my writing. Taking that leap gave me the freedom to start making decisions for myself. Not based on what I thought I had to do or what I thought people would expect of me.
I accomplished so much more than I expected in my writing career and have learned much through the process. When I sat down to write out my goals for 2022, I wanted to focus on all that I had accomplished in 2021. I wanted to set the bar higher than it was this year and in order to do that, I took a moment to relish in my own success.

After starting my new job, I rediscovered my love for writing. I brainstormed and brainstormed and before I knew it, the idea for the St. Augustine University series was born. It changed so much over the course of several months, but in October, I was finally able to see the fruits of my labor when I published my first novel. I worked tirelessly to grow my social accounts and it wasn't an easy feat. I hope to keep growing in 2022. Through socials I was able to connect with other indie authors and had the opportunity to have my book distributed through the Hidden Treasures Romance Book Box (which is a fantastic box if you're looking for new, independent author!). As 2022 wrapped up I was able to publish my second novel, Resisting Avanna. It was a wild year and one I won't soon forget.
If you're sitting down to consider your goals for the coming year, I can't recommend this enough! It was so helpful to see the progress and start with a positive mind while reaching for more moving forward.
2022 is going to be a year of continued growth. A year to grow this little indie author business of mine. A year to grow professionally, personally, and artistically.
I hope you'll follow along as I continue this journey, keeping tabs on all the new, exciting works waiting to be published in 2022. A little glimpse into 2022 looks like this:
Jan. 9, 2022 article published on the Her View From Home blog
Feb. 18, 2022 Teaching Kennedy, Book #3 in the St. Augustine University Series will be published through Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
March 2022 Venus Rising Anthology (Look for my piece titled 'Forgotten')
April 2022 Navigating Lexie, Book #4 in the St. Augustine University Series will be published through Amazon and Barnes & Noble
Summer 2022 Saved by the Sea (a new book separate from the SAU series) will be published through Amazon and Barnes & Noble

Not only does the new year come with exciting new books, but I'll also be taking on a new job in January. This job will be based closer to home and has a lot of benefits I have been hoping for. I'm excited about the changes and know 2022 is going to be one of the best.
I hope you're able to look back at 2021 with some happiness and I hope you're able to set some big goals for yourself in 2022.
xo,
Kenzie
